About ISTRAC: The ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network(ISTRAC), a Unit of the Indian Space Research Organization(ISRO) under Government ofIndia , Department of Space, is responsible for providing Telemetry, Tracking and Command (TTC) support for LEO & Scientific Missions and also provide Tracking support for PSLV & GSLV missions. ISTRAC has its Headquarters at Bangalore with TTC Stations spread over the Globe. The activities of ISTRAC involves Monitoring & Control of LEO & MEO Satellite.

ISTRAC is responsible for development of weather Radars, PCMC , S-Band, C-Band Radars for different applications. ISTRAC provides its expertise service in establishing the ground elements for Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System(IRNSS) project. ISTRAC acts as a nodal point for Search and Rescue operation. ISTRAC provides Sky/Space net communication network for Telemedcine,Conferences and data transfer. ISTRAC commits itself for providing ground system support for Human Space Programme, Antenna developments, Chandrayan and many more. ISTRAC provides enough opportunities for the youngsters to dedicate themselves in the above areas.

ISTRAC invites application for positions as indicated below which are temporary posts, but likely to be continued indefinitely.

Post 1: TECHNICAL ASSISTANT

Pay band: Rs. 9300 – 34800, Grade Pay Rs. 4200, PB2

Reservation: SC 03, ST 01, OBC 02, PWD 01, UR 03

Education: First Class Diploma in Electronics & Communication Engineering / Telecommunication Engineering/ Computer Engg.
/Mechanical Engineering from recognized University/ Institution

Post 2: SCIENTIFIC ASSISTANT

Pay band: Rs. 9300 – 34800, Grade Pay Rs. 4200, PB2

Reservation: UR 02, OBC 01

Education: First Class Bachelor Degree in Science with mathematics as one of the subject and any other two subjects from the following (Physics,Chemistry, Computer Science, / Information Tech. Electronics, & Statistics) from recognized University/ Institution.

Post 3: LIBRARY ASSISTANT ‘A’

Pay band: Rs. 9300 – 34800, Grade Pay Rs. 4200, PB2

Reservation: UR 01

Education: First Class Bachelor Degree in any discipline and Master’s Degree in Library Science/Library & Information Science or equivalent from recognized University /Institution with First Class.

Desirable:
  • Knowledge of Computer Systems for applicants with Electronics & Communication and Telecommunication Engineering specialization
  • Knowledge of AUTOCAD for applicants with Mechanical Engineering specialization.
Job Specification:
For Technical Assistant/Scientific Assistant, Job involves working in round the clock shifts throughout the year in Satellite TTC Ground Stations, Communication terminals, Computer facilities, Satellite Control Operations and other technical facilities.

Library Assistant ‘A’ will be working in Library and documentation Section and other related facilities in ISTRAC. Knowledge of computer skills is desirable.

Applications will be received ON-LINE ONLY. The detailed advertisement and application format for on-line registration will be hosted in the website http://www.istrac.org from 1000 hours on 21st November 2009 to 1700 hours on 14th December 2009. Upon registration, applicants will be provided with an on-line Registration Number, which should be carefully preserved for future reference. E-mail ID of the applicant will have to be given in the application compulsorily. After submission those who are screened in will be advised to send all relevant attested certificates.

Age Limit:
Age Limit is 35 years as on 14-12-2009 (40 years in the case of SC/ST category and 38 years in case of OBC category candidates).
Ex-Servicemen and Persons with disabilities candidates are eligible for age relaxation as per rules.

Selection Process:
There will be an initial screening based on the on-line application. The criteria for screening will include factors such as percentage/class in Diploma/Degree, etc. vis-a- vis number of total applications. The screened-in candidates will have to appear for an interview with the Selection Committee.

Traveling Allowance:
Outstation candidates called for interview will be paid to and fro Second Class Railway Fare by the shortest route from the address given in the web application to the place of interview or bus fare, whichever is less, on production of proof of journey such as the Railway Ticket Number(s)/PNR Number(s) or Bus Ticket(s), etc. If the candidate travels in a higher class of accommodation than the one prescribed, only SECOND CLASS rail fare excluding reservation charges/sleeper charges will be paid.

Pay & Allowances:
Selected candidates will be appointed as Technical Assistant/Scientific Assistant/Library Assistant in ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network in the pay band of Rs. 9300 – 34800 – Grade Pay Rs. 4,200/- – PB2 . The gross emoluments in the minimum of scale will at present be approximately Rs. 13,500/- p.m. + DA In addition, HRA and Transport Allowance at the prescribed rates in force at the place of
posting will be paid for those who are not availing Departmental Housing and Transport facility.
The employees will be governed by the New Pension Scheme ISRO provides to its employees facilities like Contributory Health Service Scheme, LTC, PF, Group Insurance, etc.
